PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Our candidate is born & raised in a Chinese business family. From a young age stimulated to achieve well and finish a good education. After her high school period she started with a study at a Chinese University, but preferred a more practical education and applied for a position at the HAS in 's Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.
In 2007 she arrived in the Netherlands and started her Bachelor in Horticulture. At the moment she is busy with her final thesis.
In her 3rd year she finished a practical traineeship (7 month) at the import department of a large garden centre chain, she studied the EU import regulation for garden supplies with special focus on the consumer safety of products. In the final part of her traineeship she was based (for 6 weeks) at their Chinese office to learn the tricks of the trade of purchasing and sourcing.
At the moment she carries out a (desk) study for a large Export Company dealing in Flowers and Plants based in the Netherlands. For them she searches the Import options of Cut Flowers and Foliage from local Chinese Producers into the EU.
WORK EXPERIENCE/Practical Training
2/2010 -7/2010 Function: Traineeship
Company: export Company of Flowers and Plants, the Netherlands
Responsibilities:
- Study the sourcing and import of cut flowers and foliage from local producers in China into EU.
- Study the available assortment in China, Quantity and Quality of the products from China, Prices, Logistic Chain/storage facilities, duration of transport.
2/2009 -9/2009 Function: Traineeship
Company: Head office Garden Centre chain/ the Netherlands & China
Responsibilities:
- Study European Regulations for import of garden supplies from China
- Check EU regulation for consumer safety of Garden supplies from china
- Focus on (Agro-)chemicals, electric supplies and recycling products.
- In China purchase and sourcing of garden supplies like pots & trays (incl. Quality Control, packaging, pricing, etc.)
General work experience:
- Waitress/bartender in Chinese restaurant

Personality:
An enthusiastic, energetic & willing to learn young lady. She is an extravert personality with a broad interest in the horticulture, and a special interest in purchasing and sourcing of Chinese products. After 4 years in the Netherlands she has a clear view on the differences between the two cultures and understands the requirements of consumers in Europe. She communicates easily in English and listens well to fellow students and team members. Preferring harmony over conflict makes her an excellent team worker and she will approach people diplomatically, something essential in a Chinese business climate.
She has a creative mind and will be the team member with the innovative ideas. A huge desire to be original and independent, this was one of the reasons why she preferred a Dutch education.
Description of the new challenge:
Our candidate prefers a position in China, around Shanghai or another horticultural area in China. Purchasing and sourcing have her special interest, of course in combination with the coordination of import and export of the products.
Sales and customer services within the horti- & agribusiness are other opportunities.
